Poptropica Worlds: My Thoughts

Just a few hours ago, a huge revelation was revealed – Poptropica Worlds!

Below are a handful of my many thoughts, opinions, theories, and even some confirmed features on this new generation of Poptropica.

Yes, It’s the New Pop

It’s going to take me a while to get used to saying “Poptropica Worlds” instead of “New Pop,” so if I accidentally say “New Pop” in any future posts, I am talking about Worlds.

Reactions on the Confirmed New Features

• “New, exciting Worlds to explore”

You mean islands? No? Yes? I’m so freaking confused right now

• “Favorites from the original Poptropica, remastered for Poptropica Worlds”

She definitely means islands here. Guess the unpopular islands will die, RIP.

• “One account for everything Poptropica!”

TALL CACTUS SHALL BE SAVED! Hopefully.

• “Your very own customizable home (remember this poll?)”

Called it.

• “More costumes than ever”

The soon-to-be winners and runner-ups of the costume contest, those costumes may be yours.

• “Daily prizes and awesome games”

I’m fine with the daily prize thing as long as members get some use out of it, like the prizes not just being credits. And those games better be new common room/multiverse battles! Wait, will multiverses be renamed in Worlds too?

• “And more to come…”

What else can I say?

Also, though this may not be true, the features mentioned in the original New Pop announcement post could most likely will be in Worlds.

Islands Are Now Worlds?

Skinny Moon didn’t say “island” once in that post. She even said “New, exciting Worlds to explore,” not islands. Not only that, but the game itself is named Poptropica Worlds.

But why did they rename the quests? I guess it’s because some of the newer “islands” don’t actually take place on islands, per say. Or maybe it’s something much, much different…

There has long been a theory that each island takes place in a different Realm. I never really agreed with it, and I never liked the idea to begin with, yet the chance of this theory being correct is more possible than ever. And if it is right, then the Theory Thursday for tomorrow is kinda, well, ruined.

Or maybe the worlds aren’t a replacement for islands? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Release Date

All we know for sure is that Worlds will release sometime this spring…which could be as early as March or as late as May or even early June.

I have a feeling it’ll be in April though, for three reasons.

1. Skinny Moon said there will be sneak peaks over the next few months: few means three and April is three months away.
2. The original announcement for the then-called New Pop was on April 25th, 2016.
3. On April Fools Day they can “release” it as a joke, and then release the real game later that month.

What Will Happen to the Current Poptropica?

Since Poptropica Worlds has a different name than simply Poptropica, it’s very likely that the current Pop won’t just disappear. I think a entirely new website will be made for Worlds. The original Poptropica then probably won’t get any updates, but won’t get deleted completely either.

Those Graphics Though…

The graphics in the trailer were kinda, uh, how do I put this nicely?

I’m sorry but I really don’t like the new designs, at least the ones in the trailer. Maybe the actual game will have better graphics, maybe the trailer was just rushed? That worm was animated pretty well, so I’m guessing the game will be better design-wise.

The Hard Truth

Look, here’s the thing. I’m sorry, and I shouldn’t be this negative, but I’m not a fan of the “Poptropica Worlds” thing. I shouldn’t be too quick to judge, yet the second I saw the new name and the trailer, my hopes and expectations fell to the bottom of the Dead Sea. Something about it doesn’t seem like the Poptropica we’ve come to know and love. The Poptropicans just look so… lifeless. And kinda creepy in a way.

I’m going to give Poptropica Worlds a chance, because who knows, maybe it will turn out to be awesome after all. But if it isn’t, there is a possibility I may quit. I know you’re upset, because I am too, but if I lose interest in the game, I’ll lose interest in blogging about it. If I were to continue, my posts would become as lifeless as the Poptropicans in that trailer. And if this worst case scenario sadly comes true, I’ll try to end on a high note, and TCPB will never be deleted.

Just please don’t worry yet. As of now, I’m not quitting, I just wanted to let you know that there is a chance I will in the spring. Again, who knows, Worlds could actually be awesome.
