Artist Bias

While the PHB controlling everyone and everything in this community is certainly one of its biggest issues, there are some other problems I should adress, too. Bias when it comes to artists is just one of these smaller problems.

So, less than an hour ago I drew a picture of Blue Diamond, from my favorite cartoon at the moment, Steven Universe. As with all my artwork, I posted it on the art channel on the PHC. Only one person said they liked it…

image.jpeg

The same thing happened a few days ago, too…

image.jpeg

Yet, when other artists post their work, they get so much more praise for it!

Are you noticing what I’m noticing? It seems as if artists who are active on DeviantArt get much more praise for what they make. To be more specific, they are a group of friends who compliment each other’s artwork – and no one else’s.

Look, this really isn’t fair. Everyone should get an equal amount of praise for their hard work. They don’t have to be your friend, and they don’t have to be on dA. That’s favoritism, that’s bias, and that’s bad.

If you’re reading this, artists, please try to notice other people’s art more. Really, please. And no, I’m not saying that I hate your art, or that mine’s better than yours, or that you don’t deserve the praise you get. I’m just saying that other people should get the opportunity to see people enjoy their work, and not just you.

The Movie Theater Rant…

image

Okay, I am VERY mad right now. You know that hyped up movie theater on Home Island? It just opened and I absolutely hate it. Like, it’s these weird songs that have literally nothing to do with Pop! Half of them are educational, too!

They say Poptropica is for all ages, but I’m beginning to wonder if that’s really true. Those videos are obviously targeted at little kids, heck, I don’t even know if they’re meant for 6 year-olds, the minimum age for Pop. These videos belong on a YouTube channel like Chu Chu TV, not Poptropica of all places.

And then you wonder why I’m so embarrassed about liking this game…

They could have at least made this movie theater thing only available to accounts below the age of 8 or 9 or 10 or something. They’ve done that with ads in the past. (In case you’re wondering, my Poptropican is still 11 even though I’m currently 13, lol.)

But be warned, Creators, if Worlds is like these videos, you are going to lose one of your devoted players.

Poptropica: The TV Series (Season 1, Episode 26)

S1E26 – Answers (SEASON FINALE)

Students are seen walking into Early Poptropica Middle School one sunny morning.

Narrator: It’s every kid’s biggest favorite day of the year: the last day of school, 7 hours of excitement for the summer break ahead. But for Piper, today won’t be all fun and games. It will be life changing…

Jack: Yes, yes, yes! It’s finally the last day of school. You know how much I hate school, right?

Piper: No?

Jack: You do now!

Piper: This has to be the most excited you’ve ever been…

Jack: Just wait until my birthday. Well, we’re at the school. We need to get ready…

Jack’s excitement suddenly dies down.

Piper: Uh, you okay?

Jack: I just remembered…it’s the 8th grade graduation ceremony today. This is going to be the most boring last day of school yet.

Piper: Maybe boring is a good thing every once in a while.

Jack: Yeah, you’re right…

A couple hours later, all the 8th grade students are wearing graduation gowns in the school’s auditorium and are lined up behind the curtain. Piper pulls the curtain away and peaks over to the audience. She sees Amelia and Edward waving.

The school’s principal walks on stage. He says some boring speech and then calls all the students by alphabetical order to receive their certificate that bascially confirms that they have completed middle school. When he gets to Jack’s name, Amelia and Edward cheer in the audience, and he smiles.

He eventually gets through all the names, but one…

Piper: Um, why didn’t you call my name?!

Principal: I’m sorry Piper, but you did not reach the standards for completing 8th grade.

Piper: W-what?

Principal: Do you even realize how many days of school you’ve missed?

Piper: Oh…

Principal: Look, I’m sorry. I need to go back on stage to say a few more things, and then I can talk with you and your parents about it.

Piper runs out of the auditorium and through the hallway, crying. But when she gets to the principal’s office, she sees someone familiar standing outside.

President Paul Tropica: Come on, he should be here any minute…oh, hello. Congrats on completing the 8th grade.

Piper: But I failed the grade! Wait, what are you even doing here?

President Paul Tropica: I have a meeting with the principal…please don’t ask questions, it’s confidential. Well, actually it has to do with the upcoming presidential election and some new curriculum plans regarding it.

Piper: But why didn’t you just call each other?

President Paul Tropica: I thought I told you not to ask questions…why are you even out here in the hallway though?

Piper: I told you, I failed. I got upset so I ran over here…

President Paul Tropica: Um, what’s this?

Piper: What’s what?

President Paul Tropica: The medallion you’re wearing…how did you get it…oh, oh no…

Piper: What?

President Paul Tropica: W-what’s your name…

Piper: Piper Pearson?

President Paul Tropica: And aren’t you the same person who’s been saving all those islands these past few months?

Piper: Yes?

President Paul Tropica: It must be you then, her daughter…

Piper: How do you know my mother? She doesn’t even live in this Poptropica place!

President Paul Tropica: Piper, that’s not your mother…

Piper: Of course she is! I know about my mother more than you do!

President Paul Tropica: They must not have told you yet…Piper, let me explain something…your mother, I knew her very well…

A flashback starts showing everything the President is saying.

President Paul Tropica: We first met in high school, when I moved to Early Poptropica. Yep, I used to live here. But your mother, she was different than most teenagers. She never was into all that girly stuff, she was into exploration, adventure, even politics. I think she had a little crush on me, but I don’t know for certain. We eventually graduated, and I never saw her again for a long time…you okay?

Piper: Yes…

President Paul Tropica: Let me continue. One day, when I was a young man living in New Pop City, I saw her again. She was putting up posters, about how the islands should reunite and become one nation…

Piper: But they became united back when Poptropolis was still the capital!

President Paul Tropica: Yes, they did. However, they drifted apart again…the United Islands of Poptropica as we know it is only a couple decades old, not even. But I decided to help your mother. Long story short, we finally succeeded, and she became the first president. I became the first vice president. I began to like her again, and I tried to ask her on a date, but by then, it was too late. She was already engaged to your father…are you sure you’re okay? The next part greatly upsets me, and it may upset you too…

Piper: Please tell me.

President Paul Tropica: Well…they soon got married, and a few years after that, you were born. And a few months after that, they discovered something. A portal to other worlds, another universes, controlled by, I don’t know if I should tell you, but yes, it’s related to the medallion you are currently wearing. But they never returned from one of these universes. I was left in care of you. But, an accident happened…I don’t know, but you ended up getting stuck on Earth until recently, I assume. And then I became president. I never wanted to be…thankfully, the election is soon but…

The President and Piper cry for a couple minutes.

Principal: Sorry, I’m here! Oh, this must not be a good time…should I come another time?

President Paul Tropica: Yes.

Principal: Okay then! But Piper, I realized that you’ve completed much more than just the 8th grade…

Piper: Seriously?

Principal: Well, you’ll have to get some tutoring to catch up next year in high school, but I have to say, you’ve accomplished more things than what I’ve done my entire life. Please take this certificate.

The principal hands the certificate to Piper, and she smiles for the first time in a week.

Later that day, Piper and Jack are at home.

Jack: So, what are we even gonna do this summer?

Piper: Save some more islands and then the world, like usual?

Jack: Yeah, I suppose.

Just then, the phone rings.

Jack: I’ll go get it!

He stands there for a moment as he listens to what is being said on the other line.

Jack: Oh my…

Piper: Is something wrong?

Jack: Of course not! This is great news!

Piper: What?!

Jack: Zoey just called. She’s inviting us to stay over at her dad’s new house in Bay City for the summer!

Piper: Bay City? What’s that?

Jack: Only the second biggest city in Poptropica, behind its current capital, New Pop City. But like, it’s really nice there.

Piper: Oh, cool!

Jack: Are you sure you want to go, though?

Piper: Of course I do!

Jack: Let’s go tell my parents, and then we have to pack…

Piper and Jack run upstairs.

Piper (whispering to herself): I’m just glad I finally have some answers. I can’t tell Jack yet, I can’t…

Piper cries a little but wipes the tears away.

Narrator: But what other secrets does Poptropica hold…?

A closeup of Piper’s medallion is seen before switching over to the special ending credits.

And, there you go! While the First Season of Pop TV is over, Season 2 will be coming out this summer if Worlds is good and I don’t quit blogging. I just want to thank you for making it through all those summaries, and I hope you enjoyed these last five episodes.

See ya soon!

So I played Club Penguin Island…

EDIT #2: After playing more, I’ve come to realize that THIS GAME IS AWFUL.

EDIT: I played for a bit longer and realized some really bad things about CPI! Like, if you don’t buy membership you can’t wear any clothes at all. None. Also, you know those quests I mentioned? You can only do one or two a day, making CPI just as boring as the original. Oh well…

I don’t really know what to say, lol. It’s not that good, but it’s not bad either. However, it’s more entertaining than the original CP cause it has quests. But other than the quests and the name (Island), it’s nothing like Pop, lol.

There’s also some voice acting…I wonder if Worlds will have it too. I doubt it but, you never know…

March 29th

It’s the 29th of March in the year 2017. You know what this means…

Rip Club Penguin 2005-2017

I’ll be playing Club Penguin Island sometime today or tomorrow. Stay tuned for a post explaining if it has any similarities with Poptropica. The CP-Pop Conflict may not be over!

Poptropica: The TV Series (Season 1, Episode 25)

S1E25 – Against All Gods

Based on Mythology Island

The episode starts an hour or two after Episode 24’s ending. Piper and Jack had sneak out of the house and use the blimp to go to a very mysterious island, or a very mysterious tree to be more exact. By the time they get there, it’s just after sunrise. Turns out the book was just about all these treasures in Poptropica, and Piper wanted to find the Golden Apple of Immortality. Jack, who only just found this out, told Piper that it wasn’t a good idea. Apparently many people in the past had tried to find it, but they never came back. Piper shrugs it off. Then Jack asks why she wants to be immortal in the first place. Piper realized she doesn’t have a good reason for it, but at the same time, she doesn’t want to die. So she just grabs the apple before Jack can say how selfish that is. Nothing happens for a moment, the apple just sits there. Jack says that immortality can’t just grow on trees, and that something feels weird about this. And then Zeus shows up. She had some idea of the Poptropican gods from Poptropolis, but no one had told her that they were actually real…

Then it’s basically the plot of Mythology Island, getting all the items and stuff. Only when they go to the Underworld, they find all the other people who had tried becoming immortal. Yep, they died on the quest, rip. Also it’s revealed that everyone is forced to wear tunics there cause Zeus prefers the days of Poptropolis and they don’t want to make him mad. They’re allowed to use cell phones and stuff, though.

And then it’s more of the island plot, all the way to Piper literally fighting Zeus…and somehow winning. Only this time, Zeus never says he’s going to be good. He says he’s going to be back.

So after all that, Piper and Jack decided to make up an excuse for why they were away all day. Piper’s mistake was a pretty stupid one, to say the least. They never told Jack’s parents what really happened. They wouldn’t find out for months…

Poptropica Worlds Sneak Peak: What’s This?

It may not be the holiday season, but I just had to…

Hey guys. Sometime in the past hour or so, I’m not sure exactly when, another Worlds sneak peak was revealed! I’m honestly really surprised right now, as I thought we wouldn’t get any more till April. Anyways, here’s the rather mysterious picture…

image.jpeg

But, what is this picture of exactly? We won’t know until Worlds comes out, but I notice a few things about it…

First of all, a lot of the items in there seem to be things you’d find on Astro Knights. Medieval themed, but if you look closely into the dark area, you’ll see a space ship thing hanging on the wall. The furniture is covered with animal fur…maybe relating to Survival Island? There’s also a cactus, which makes me happy.

But what could this all mean? Well, a while back, there was this Daily Pop sneak peak of a castle of some sort, I would find a pic of it but I’m lazy right now. But this particular castle had things from other islands outside of it. Maybe this could be that castle. Maybe this is the island that connects all of the other islands…

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is some secret base for a bunch of villains, Binary Bard and Myron van Buren most likely. Or it’s just a Poptropican’s house, I don’t know.

Poptropica: The TV Series (Season 1, Episode 24)

S1E24 – Reality TV (Summary :/)

Based off of Reality TV Island (duh)

One Saturday morning, Piper, Jack, and Zoey are watching TV in the living room. Piper, who has the remote, flips through a bunch of stations, including a commercial for the PopPhone 17, a travel ad for Shark Tooth Island, and a news segment on Balloon Boy. Piper makes a comment on why they never talk about her and Jack, since they’ve saved so many islands and all of that stuff. Jack tells Piper that most people don’t care about that stuff, and that they’d rather watch things like that overrated show, Reality TV Island. Piper obviously doesn’t know what it is, so Jack takes the remote and switches to a channel where it is playing. Piper says the name is really unoriginal, and Zoey leaves the room. Piper says that she probably just thinks the show is stupid, but Jack thinks there’s something more to it, even though he hates the show himself. Just then, the announcer on TV says that they are looking for contestants for the next season, and that anyone can enter. This season is special because the celebrity Bucky Lucas will be making appearances in some of the episodes. Jack tells Piper that Bucky became famous after being the first one voted OFF in the first ever season, which confuses Piper. Jack tells Piper that everything regarding celebrities is confusing, and that she shouldn’t want to be one. Still, Piper immediately announces that she wants to enter, and Jack and his parents can do nothing to stop her.

A week or so later, Piper gets a letter back from the show’s producers: she will be on the show. Because having a teenager compete against adults is good for the ratings, apparently. Just then, a helicopter comes to the house to pick her up. Everyone else says goodbye as she flies away for the first time without her blimp.

Then the show’s theme song plays as the contestants are shown one by one: Piper, Sarah Snooty, Ned Noodlehead, Grandma Gracey, Hip Hop, Betty Brownie, Magic Mervin, and Hippie Harry. The next 5-10 minutes of the episode consist of them competing in the events and voting each other off. Eventually, only Piper and Sarah Snooty are left, and the final event just has to be Geyser Guess. Piper somehow wins…

Sarah Snooty is really mad at Piper for winning at Geyser Guess. Guess she really wanted her dad to buy her another car. She thinks Piper cheated, even though the game was luck-based, so she calls her dad, and soon enough, he’s right there. His name is “Busy” Bob and apparently he was the winner of the first season of Reality TV Island. While he did earn a lot of money from his victory, aka how he can buy his daughter so much stuff, he didn’t get the fame that Bucky Lucas got, even though he was the real winner.

Bucky Lucas and the other show producers are about to award Piper when Jack, Jack’s parents, and Zoey appear, hopping off the blimp, to congratulate her in person. And that’s when Zoey calls Bucky Lucas “dad.” It’s quite an emotional scene as she finally reconnects with her father. It is revealed that they moved to Early Poptropica because the paparazzi wouldn’t stop stalking them. Before he can go into more details, Bob and Sarah walk over to Bucky, angry. They hop into one of the Reality TV helicopters, and Piper, Jack, Jack’s parents, Zoey, and Bucky all get into the blimp. A chase scene unfolds, but the blimp eventually escapes the helicopter. Busy Bob is later arrested for stealing it.

Back in Early Poptropica, Bucky says that he and Zoey are moving to escape the paparazzi. Before Piper can ask where, they’re gone. And now she’s scared she’ll become just like Bucky, famous with no privacy whatsoever. Piper lays in bed that night, not being able to sleep because she has so many thoughts because Zoey is gone. She sneaks downstairs to Jack’s dad’s office, a room she only just realized was there. There were a ton of books in there, but one of them catches her attention. She picks up the book, reads for a moment, then goes upstairs to tell Jack her plan…

Poptropica: The TV Series (Season 1, Episode 23)

Before we get into the episode, I want to apologize. All 5 of these last episodes were going to be in transcript format but, I don’t know, I jut couldn’t get myself to do it. Also, there’s a thing called homework. So yeah, the remaining episodes will be summaries after all, but this time, they will be much more detailed and hopefully a little less cringey. However, I actually did write a script for Episode 26, the season finale. To be honest, it could’ve been better. There’s no point in editing it now, but maybe later…stay tuned. Anyways, here’s Episode 23!

S1E23 – Dr. Hare, in Space!

Based off of Legendary Swords (kinda)

The episode starts with Dr. Hare and his Rabbot crashing onto the Ice Planet. He starts exploring the planet to look for shelter when he sees a weird spaceship thing. He goes in it and eventually ends up on the planet from Legendary Swords, one never seen until now. He finds out some dude named E. Vile is planning to take over Poptropica using robots, which makes Dr. Hare mad because he wants to rule Pop himself, so he fights them off somehow. Yep, he accidentally became a hero. After defeating all the robots he goes back into the spaceship thing to get back to Poptropica itself, but it goes off course and hits that asteroid where the Crystal Gate is. Long story short, he ends up at Binary Bard’s fortress, where they meet and become roommates as they plan their next big attack…

Okay that wasn’t detailed at all but trust me, the summary for Episode 24 is.
