July 2016 Costume Contest (and June Winner)

Before I announce the winner, I just want to say sorry for this being so late. Like, I even said in my post from Friday that this was going to be posted on Friday/Saturday. And today is Tuesday. Oh well…

Anyways, if you forgot, June’s theme was Fun in the Sun, where you had to make an outfit perfect for the beach. I looked through all the entries (comment if I missed one) and I will post each of them right…now.

A pin is heard dropping onto the floor.

Well, there’s something quite wrong! D:

While writing this post, I checked the entries in the comment section of the first costume contest post, like I was saying above, but when I clicked the Avatar Studio link, instead of showing the costume contest entry, it showed the player’s CURRENT outfit.

A few other people showed me actual screenshots on Discord and stuff of their entries, so I could actually see theirs, but I’m not going to post them here because it’s not really fair. So no winner this month.

What a bummer, I know. Next time, I either would enter screenshots or something else instead of a link to the Avatar Studio, not change your Poptropican’s costume until after the winner is announced, or just make a totally new account for this and not bother using your main one.

Now let’s just hope this month’s (July 2016) costume contest doesn’t end up like this.

So most of you have heard of Skinny Moon, right? Y’know, the Poptropica Creator who actually interacts with the community and even has been on the PHC a few times? Even though she’s super nice, one thing about her isn’t…her Poptropican’s outfits.

She switches it up sometimes, but it isn’t much of an improvement…

I’m not saying that she has no fashion sense, it’s just that her outfits are kinda, well, boring. The thing is (If you’re reading this, Skinny Moon, no offence, I’m just trying to help you look cooler) that she only seems to use clothes from the Home Island Shop or maybe even the choices that pop up when first making a Poptropican. The clothes that new players seem to always wear before they explore other islands and find more interesting outfit choices.

Creators normally wear clothes that are usually not accessible to the average player without glitching. Because almost all Creators have a villain/other Pop character alias. Skinny Moon doesn’t though, she just goes by her Poptropican’s default name, similar to a lot of bloggers, including myself. But that doesn’t explain her outfit.

That’s why the July 2016 will be about making a new outfit for this amazing Creator who’s outfit makes her seem more lame than she actually is. Not only to fit in with this theme better, but to also prevent what happened with June’s entries, you CANNOT use your main account for this challenge. You must make a new one, and make the new Poptropican’s hair and skin look similar to Skinny Moon to make this contest more fun.

You have until July 31st to enter, and the winner will be announced sometime in early August, maybe even the 1st, unlike this post. I will even try to somehow get Skinny Moon herself to see the winner’s look, and she just may end up using it! (Can’t make any promises on that, however…)

Phew, well that was a long, wordy post. I have a somewhat shorter, but just as interesting, post planned for tomorrow, so I’ll see you then!

P.S.- I will be active with posting once again 😛

P.P.S.- Happy Fourth of July to all you American Poptropicans! Oh wait, it’s July 5th now, darn it…

P.P.P.S.- Magic Panda and a couple other people on Discord helped me come up with the Create-A-New-Skinny-Moon-Outfit idea a few weeks ago I think. Thanks guys!

June 2016 Costume Contest (And a Stormy Mystery)

It’s finally June, Poptropicans. I know summer doesn’t start officially until like June 20th or 21st or 22nd or something, but it sure feels like summer to me. And since it also just happens to be the first day of the month, it’s time to start…

Monthly Costume Contests!

You might have remembered how I briefly mentioned these monthly contests in the post that explained this blog’s new schedule (check out the post here), and if you didn’t, who cares, as I will go into more detail today!

On the first day of a new month (like today), I will announce the winners from the previous month (unlike today) and then the contest for that month. Each month will have a different theme, and all costumes must be about that theme, if not then the costume will be eliminated. You can only enter once each month, and you can do this by either posting the link that shows your outfit from the Poptropica Avatar Studio or DMing it to me on Discord. You can also email it to me at tallcactus1@outlook.com or tallcactus1@gmail.com, but I would prefer the previous two ways. I barely check those emails anymore.

A few other things…

  1. Everything must be kid-friendly.
  2. If you win one month, you get a point. Whoever gets the most points by the end of the year will get to have an interview with me that will be posted on the blog.
  3. If you don’t win, please don’t spam with hate comments or anything like that. Being a sore loser like that may end up with you not being able to enter the next month’s contest.

Now that you know the basic rules, it’s time to announce this month’s theme, which is…

Fun in the Sun!

Make a summer-themed costume that’s perfect for the beach. Happy summer Poptropicans!

The contest starts NOW!!!

Oh, and sometime this week, probably on Friday, I’ll be adding a page for the contests, which will include a hall of fame for all the winners. I’ll also be updating (NOT deleting) the two Totem Curse pages, because of it’s cancellation, and maybe even the UPIS page, that sure is outdated. A page for Island Reviews and other stuff on my blog will probably be made sometime this weekend.

That’s all for today. Get styling!

Wait just a minute. I know this has nothing to do with the contest, but it’s too crazy to not tell you guys about it. It is Wednesday, and I would have had another random post if it wasn’t the first day of June.

So, today I was bored at school, and I began looking through some of the books in the back of the classroom, and I just so happened to find a little book called Secret Santa: Agent of X.M.A.S.. But why am I talking about a Christmas spy book in June? Well, I found a summary of the book online, and found out that the villain’s name in it is…

Dr. Cumulus Nimbus

You know, the same exact name of the somewhat forgotten villain in the Pop Blimp Adventure Miniquest…

But it just gets worse…

The Santa spy book was published in 2010. And the Blimp Adventure game HAD to had come out after that. So did the Creators copy this villain? Sure, they may have copied the name, but the actual appearance? We will never find out…or will we? The book has happens to have illustrations in it. But the book isn’t very well-known, so it’s not like I can find pictures of it on Google. I do have a plan, however. Tomorrow morning at school, I’ll flip through the book and try to find an illustration of their version of Dr. Cumulus Nimbus and see if it looks like the picture above. If not, the Creators probably didn’t copy, and if it does, then the Creators will get busted! Unfortunately, phones and other electronics are banned during class, so I won’t be able to get a picture of the book illustration. You’ll have to just take my word for it.

I’ll see you tomorrow, when this case gets solved…hopefully.

You should get styling before that though, as I will be busy tomorrow night and the post may be out a couple hours later than usual.
