An Unplanned Introduction to the Poptropica-Club Penguin Conflict

Hey guys, so tonight I was just on the PHC when I saw some people talking about how Club Penguin (well, the PC version) is going to shut down and be replaced with a new, mobile-only game this spring…

image.jpeg

Am I the only one seeing the connection…?

image

What if the only reason the islands are gonna be renamed to “worlds” is because Club Penguin stole the term for themselves?

Also, apparently this “Club Penguin Island” thing was announced back in November 2016…no wonder New Pop/Pop Worlds got delayed. Not only that, but both of these games are (sort of) replacements of an original game, and they’re both releasing in the spring of 2017. (Or did Club Penguin Island already release? I don’t even know because I really do not like CP…)

Let’s just say, Club Penguin and Poptropica have been getting compared by fans for a very, very long time, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the game developers themselves are starting to compete against one another.

So, do you think Poptropica and Club Penguin have a secret rivalry going on, or is this just a pure coincidence? Let me know in the comments, because I may just make a dedicate a much longer theory post to the Poptropica-Club Penguin conflict…after the Theory Thursdays Groundhog Day special, of course.

Anyways, I’ll see ya in the next post!

Popular Opinions: The Poptropica Worlds Leaks…

image

Hey guys, welcome to yet another Popular Opinions! As you saw in the title, this week’s subject matter are those Pop Worlds leaks. I was a little hesitant to post about them at first, but most people are aware of them now, so why not?

If you haven’t seen them though, here they are…

(They were originally posted here: https://poptropicaskunkblog.wordpress.com/2017/01/23/pop-worlds-mordred/)

Now that you know what these leaks are, it’s time to see whether the Poptropicans on the Cacti Pop Chat think they’re actually real or not.

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

As for my opinion, I’m not so sure whether all those leaks are real. I mean, a couple probably are, but the others…let’s just go through them, one by one.

Binary Bard

image

This one’s a toughie. While the art style matches up with the Pop Worlds trailer pretty nicely, it could have been photoshopped, just as Teen Arachnid was saying. I give it a 50/50 chance that this is what the Worlds version of Binary Bard will look like.

The Drill

image

This, on the other hand, is almost certainly real. I mean, just look at it! Will Crisis Caverns be in Worlds?! Hmm…

The Other Three

image

To be honest, I don’t think the final three leaks are real. The shoe looks fan-made, the rockstar head looks exactly like one from the Classic Pop, and the Challenge of the Day graphic, well…

image

You never know though, I could be completely wrong. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Once Shaky Skunk releases more of the leaks, which could be as soon as tonight even, I’ll set aside a Theory Thursday for them. But that won’t be this week, because I have something else planned for Thursday: a Groundhog Day special. 😉

Until then, have a nice weekend!

TCPB’s First Birthday Party: The Videos

You know how I mentioned how Short Feather recorded TCPB’s birthday party? And how he was gonna upload this recording onto his YouTube channel? Sorry for the wait, but here are his videos!

The thing is, there are two other parts to the recording…they just haven’t been uploaded yet due to technical difficulties. I can’t promise they’ll ever be posted, but if they are, I’ll let you know.

Cya in a few hours for Popular Opinions!

Theory Thursdays: The Double Meaning Behind IotM

image

Hey guys, welcome back to Theory Thursdays! While I try to come up with a better intro, here’s another theory post for you.

This theory was originally going to just be a section of last week’s theory on what Islands will be in Poptropica Worlds, but I decided to make it its own post instead. That being said, today’s theory may be on the shorter side, but I wouldn’t be able to fit in all the little details if I had made it a part of last week’s theory.

What is this theory about, you ask? Well, it’s about the Islands of the Month. No, not the ones for January, but the series in general. Read on…

A Double Meaning

For the past couple months, I’ve had a feeling that there is more to IotM than what meets the eye. I thought it was simply a way to make people forget that New Pop was delayed at first, but ever since Poptropica Worlds was announced a couple weeks ago, my theory on the existence of this credit-overflowing series has changed. A lot.

Let me propose a little question for you. What if the Islands of the Month are some of the islands that will be remade for Pop Worlds. Or what if IotM was made just to be a memorial service to the islands that will fade away with the new generation of Poptropica?

A Sneak Peak to Pop Worlds?

The fact that nearly all of the Islands of the Month are SUIs is a bit suspicious. They are some of the most popular islands, after all, and the Creators said that some of our favorites will be remade for Worlds. Could this be the case for the islands featured in IotM?

A Final Goodbye?

However, the truth could be the exact opposite. Maybe the Islands of the Month, well, at least the majority of them, won’t be in revamped in Poptropica Worlds. Why else would they feature certain islands for an entire month at a time? The Creators may want to celebrate these islands before they are forgotten. If that’s true, they want players to complete these islands before it’s too late by rewarding them with credits, since they probably can’t tell anyone which islands will and which islands won’t be in Pop Worlds just yet.

A Mix of Both?

To be honest, I think the true answer is a mixture of both possibilities. Like, some of the Islands of the Month will move on to Worlds, and some won’t. Maybe IotM has nothing to do with Worlds and everything is just a big coincidence.

But if my theory is true, how will we know which islands are being remade and which ones are dying?

We’ll just have to wait until Poptropica Worlds releases this spring, sadly.

Blog Jog is Cancelled…

image

Someone asked about why there haven’t been any Blog Jog posts in months a few weeks ago, so I thought I’d finally tell you guys the truth today; that it’s been cancelled for a while now. I should have just announced that Blog Jog died when I decided to discontinue the series a couple months ago, but I waited until now because I didn’t want to make you upset. I knew I would have to admit it eventually, which is why I am releasing this post today.

I have my reasons for the cancellation…

  • I lost interest.
  • I have other things to post on the first day of new months, like the first episode of Pop TV on New Years.
  • I don’t want bloggers who’s blogs don’t get featured to feel bad.
  • The running-inspired intros for Blog Jog make me cringe.
  • I lost interest. I repeated this twice cause that is the main reason I ended it.

Before I end this post, I’d like to apologize for not only cancelling it, but waiting months to tell you guys that…so, I’m sorry.

TCPB’s First Birthday Party: A Recap

image

Last night was one pretty eventful night in the Poptropica community, or my server at least. Why? It was finally time for TCPB’s First Birthday Party! Let’s take a long back on what happened.

The First Hour (7-8 PM ET) – Multiverse Madness

image

The multiverse, EGT38, was officially made right as the party began. While only a couple Poptropicans were there at first, more people joined as the hour passed by. There was battling, chatting, pushing the tree, and spamming emoticons, like usual, but also some rather odd glitches and lots of lag.

Fortune cookies were opened, with inspiring messages such as…

image

Oops, I mean…

image

But I’m not wearing a clown suit, nor was anyone at the party, so you can trust us! Oh, wait, there was that time in first grade when I was a clown in a play…

The Second Hour (8-9 PM ET) – Roblox Randomness

image

Halfway through the party, 8 PM EST to be exact, I was getting a tad bored with just the multiverse. I decided to do something that had never been done during a Poptropica party- playing a different game. Roblox.

image People were pretty excited about this, and the first game we played was Natural Disaster Survival. If you’ve never played this game before, the title basically says it all: you have to try and survive things like tornadoes, blizzards, etc. When we played this Robloxian classic, I somehow became an oracle and correctly guessed that the next disaster would be a thunderstorm.

After that we played a little Survive the Disasters 2, which is like Natural Disaster Survival but with totally unnatural disasters, and then I tried to show some peeps my house in the totally overrated MeepCity. I was gonna make a party in that game just to find out that you have to buy Plus for that feature.

But just then, I got an idea. What if we played some Poptropica ripoff games? I had done that a couple months ago, and those did exist in the void of Roblox games. Let’s just say, they are some really weird games. One of them consisted of parkour-obstacle-course-things based on the first 12 islands, and they got the character designs and plot lines so freaking wrong.

I know you’re probably getting curious, so next Sunday I’ll be playing these ripoff games and making a post about my experiences for the last ever Spectacular Sunday Surprise (SSS will be replaced with Pop TV starting on February 5th). Stay tuned…

There was also action in the multiverse during the second hour, but it was starting to die off. Yet, it was still being used even after the party “ended.”

So yeah, that’s what happened last night! If you weren’t able to make it to the party, I’ve got some good news for you: Short Feather recorded most of the party. But the thing is, his videos aren’t finished yet. I’ll be making a separate post with links to them in the next day or so. See ya then!

Happy (late) birthday, TCPB, here’s to another great year!

The Party’s TONIGHT!

image

Just a quick reminder that TCPB’s First Birthday Party is tonight, on the Cacti Pop Chat and some Poptropica multiverses. The times for the party are listed in the graphic above; I live on the East Coast so it’ll be at 7 for me; but if you don’t live in any of those time zones, you can use this time converter to find out when to come.

Be sure to bring some fireworks, balloons, cakes, and your brightest smile, because it’s going to be a blast! And I promise that there won’t be any Robutts this time.

Popular Opinions: Reality TV vs Super Power!

image

I have no ideas for an intro so let’s just get right to the actual post, I’m pretty sure you all know how Popular Opinions works.

This week’s question revolves around the recent news of us, the players, getting to vote for one of February’s Islands of the Month. Well, we get to choose either Reality TV or Super Power Island, at least. That being said, this poll made a great Popular Opinions question!

To be exact: Are you going to vote for Reality TV or Super Power in the February IotM poll?

Let us rewind and see what the Poptropicans on the Cacti Pop Chat had to say!

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

And that wraps up this week’s Popular Opinion post! But don’t go just yet, I need your help. You see, what Popular Opinions really needs is a time. By that, I mean a general time frame when I’ll ask the week’s question every single Friday. When I do it at completely random times each week, it’ll throw people off and they may miss their chance to respond. So, in the comments below, it would be great if you could suggest a time frame when you think the most people will be online, in Eastern Time. Thanks!

-Tall Cactus

PS- sorry if I explained that badly, I tried, lol.

News: We Get to Choose a February IotM

image

Yup, you read the title correctly.

This evening Skinny Moon posted on the good ol’ Creators’ Blog about how we get to vote for one of Febuary’s Islands of the Month: Super Power or Reality TV. Like all previous IotMs, the winner will be featured throughout next month and you’ll get extra credits for completing it, among other things.

I really like how the Creators are letting us contribute to the game more. Over the past several months there have been quite a few official polls- heck, we got to vote for our home on New Pop (now Poptropica Worlds). Not only that, but Skinny Moon came on Discord recently and she’s been reading more and more fan blogs. It’s great to see the Creators listen to their players like this.

Now I’m just wondering what the other Island of the Month will be. To be honest, I have no clue on what it will be, but I really hope it’s Counterfeit or Astro Knights.

Anyways, you can vote here. I chose Reality TV, because I don’t really like Super Power that much, aside from the fact you get to fly around once you complete the island. The poll closes on the 27th of this month at midnight (Eastern Time), so try to get your vote in before it’s too late!
